The Houston Amtrak Station is at 902 Washington Avenue near the George Bush Monument the Theater District. Trains on the Sunset Limited route stop at the station three times each week and travel east to New Orleans and west to Los Angeles with many stops in between. Built in 1960, the station itself is small, surrounded by large parking lots and is next to I-45, so it isn’t one of the most pedestrian-friendly stations, but some downtown Houston hotels and restaurants are within a 20-minute walking radius.
