Jacksonville is the first Amtrak station in Florida. Trains on the Silver Meteor and Silver Star routes stop here and also stop at cities in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania (also New York City). If you don’t live near a station on these routes, you’ll need to ride more than one train and/or a bus in order to reach Jacksonville.
Washington D.C. and New York City are where most people transfer to the Florida trains. Long-distance Amtrak routes in the Eastern United States travel to at least one of these cities. If you plan to start the trip west of Chicago and New Orleans, you’ll need to travel to either city and transfer to a train that will take you to the East Coast.
