Amtrak routes with dining cars

Amtrak’s overnight routes have dining cars, but are used in different ways depending on the route. All the scenic routes in the western half of the United States have traditional dining service, which gives you the option to sit in the dining car, order food from a server, and have it delivered to you table.

On most the other sleeper routes, your meals are brought to your private room and the dining car is available as a private lounge. You can eat your meals and relax there, but the car is not staffed.

Traditional Dining Car Routes

For meal service in the dining car, book a private room on one of the below routes. Tables seat four people, and you’ll be paired with other travelers if your party is less than four. For many, this interaction makes train travel unique. Meals are included in the ticket price if you book a roomette or bedroom.
