Tips and Things to Know
- The Charleston Amtrak station is technically in North Charleston. You’ll need to use rideshare or taxi to reach your final destination. For car rentals, we recommend getting a car at the airport (via rideshare or taxi).
- Northbound trains arrive in Columbia in the middle of the night.
- The Clemson station is near Lake Hartwell and Clemson University.
- If you’re trying to reach Hilton Head, the best option is to travel to Savannah or Charleston and rent a car there. Savannah is a shorter drive, but if you’re traveling southbound, you can get off the train faster via Charleston.
- To reach Myrtle Beach, you can rent a car in Florence and drive about 1.5 hours. Enterprise offers pickup service, but if you are traveling southbound on the train, you’ll need to stay a night in Florence before picking up your car (office closes at 6 p.m.). You can also check for rentals via Turo.
