Myrtle Beach is a popular vacation destination in South Carolina. If you are traveling there by train, the closest Amtrak station is Florence on the Silver Meteor and Palmetto routes. However, it is a 1.5 hour drive to reach Myrtle Beach once off the train, so you’ll need to plan ahead. Read on to learn about your travel options.

How to get from Florence to Myrtle Beach
To get from Florence to Myrtle Beach, choose from the following options:
- There are several rental car companies near the Florence Amtrak station, including two Enterprise locations (pick-up service is available; call ahead to coordinate).
- Turo is another car rental options (cars can sometimes be left at the train station for you).
- There is also an inexpensive regional bus (see bus stop on map), walking time is 30 minutes from the Amtrak station and 15 minutes from the two hotels below.
Southbound trains arrive in the evening, so you’ll need to stay overnight before renting a car or getting on the bus. Two hotels are within a 15-minute walk of the Amtrak station:

- Northbound Silver Meteor trains arrive in time for car rentals and connections to the bus.
- Southbound Palmetto trains have better arrival times than the Silver Meteor, but you’ll need to stay overnight in Florence in both cases unless there is a rental car available with Turo.
