Trip Times
The shortest Amtrak trip time between New York City and Philly is about 1 hour and 15 minutes on the Acela. You’ll only spend 10 to 20 minutes longer on the train if you book a ticket on a different route, and you’ll likely save money as well. If you want meal service, then book a first class ticket on Acela Express.
Frequency
There are many weekday and weekend trains that travel between 30th Street Station and New York Penn Station, sometimes at a frequency of every 30 minutes or less. Trains depart Penn Station toward Philadelphia from approximately 3 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you are starting your trip in Philly, you can travel between approximately 5 a.m. and 11:45 p.m.
