Why I Created This Site

I love the ease and nostalgia of train travel, along with the chance to see so much of the country without worrying about traffic or parking. After living in former streetcar neighborhoods designed to be walkable and community-focused, I wanted to help others experience the sense of place and connection that comes with moving around without a car.

Railroads run in my family, too. My great-grandfather was an engineer with the New York Central Railroad, and I love imagining the history behind the routes I ride today. Combined with my love for writing and experiencing places around the United States, it was natural to create this site and help others travel by train.

What You’ll Find Here

This website is here to make your rail travel easier and more enjoyable. You’ll find practical tips, station information, route guides, and insider travel information that can help you plan trips big and small — whether it’s a short regional ride or a cross-country adventure.

Major updates and new features are currently in progress to help you discover more along the way.
